Creation Care Team
Sustainable initiatives taken on site:
  • Recycling in every room: single stream recycling
  • Plastic Bags/Film, Styrofoam and Battery collection for the local recycling center
  • Refillable water bottle station
  • LED lightbulbs
  • "Turn Off Lights" and "Please Close Door" signs to save energy.
  • Increasing use of real cups and utensils instead of single-use items
  • Using up what we have instead of buying new (e.g. hospitality items like plates and utensils as well as rethinking how our furniture is used)
  • Programmable thermostats with energy efficient settings based on actual space use.
  • Xeriscaping with more to come. Xeriscaping, as defined by National Geographic, is the practice of designing landscapes to reduce or eliminate the need for irrigation.
  • We'll be updating our labyrinth to become a Sacred Grounds or Certified Wildlife Habitat.
  • Composting is in discussion for the campus.

Vespers with Creation
Creation Justice Ministries (formerly the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program)
During each Monday of the season of creation, Creation Justice Ministries invites you to join us for a short Vespers service. This brief online gathering will include a time of music, prayer, and reflection as we meditate on the themes of the SALT Project's “Faith and Climate” resource. All are welcome to this ecumenical time of prayerful meditation.

Creation Justice Ministries (formerly the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program) represents the creation care and environmental justice policies of major Christian denominations throughout the United States. We work in cooperation with 38 national faith bodies including Protestant denominations and Orthodox communions as well as regional faith groups, and congregants to protect and restore God's Creation.
